A fix for this has been merged to the Subiquity snap beta channel.
If you would like to help test this fix, please do the following:
* Launch your installer ISO as you normally would
* During the install, when the network is configured enough that snap
should be able to reach the snap store, please go to a command line.
The easiest way to do this should be to use the "Enter Shell" option
  in the "Help Menu"
* Run command `sudo snap refresh --beta subiquity`
* Complete your install as you would normally

Autoinstall users would need to use:
  refresh-installer:
    update: yes
    channel: beta

This build differs from the released version with the following fixes:

Trying to setup a virtual 22.04 for a customer and the only way this can reach outside the internal network is using a (http) proxy.
Trying the workaround with the beta results in a certificate error as shown in attached file.
The proxy is not intercepting SSL.
Any suggestions?

@Rickard - it looks like snapd isn't talking to the web proxy, I think?
You could try https://snapcraft.io/docs/system-options#heading--proxy

You may prefer to experiment with the almost-released 22.04.1 ISOs, which have this fix built in already. https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/jammy/daily-live/20220809/

Thanks, i'll try that the next time! For now, we worked around it by temporarily opening the firewall, proceeded in the installer without setting proxy so the installer could update, then went back and set the proxy.
When we ran into the certificate error posted above, we couldn't see any attempts by the server trying to go outside through the firewall (no proxy).
Glad to hear that an updated ISO is on the way.

any updates on this? installation of ubuntu server 20.04.5 lts and 22.04.1 lts still fails reproduceable in virtualbox as long as the VM doesn't have an internet connection but configured network interfaces in a working LAN. if you disable the NICs in the vm settings before you start the setup and activate them after finishing the setup everything works fine.
