Bug Description

Ubuntu desktop install (jammy canary daily) install to
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)

possibly duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954731

** expected result

install completes & asks me to reboot

** actual result

something went wrong and I was told to reboot

** notes

going from box (c2d with spinning rust drive so not fast) it looked like install was proceeding.. screen saver kicked in at least once, disk flashing - but ended just like sony vaio did with

"something went wrong \n please restart the machine"

no other useful detail on screen
