Bug Description

Installation of 20.04 fails, if you activate LUKS encryption during setup/installation.

1) Boot Client from ISO

2) Guided storage configuration:
[X] Use an entire disk
[X] Set up this disk as an LVM group
[X] Encrypt the LVM group with LUKS

3) File system summary:
Default accepted --> Done

ISO: https://releases.ubuntu.com/20.04/ubuntu-20.04-live-server-amd64.iso
Setup still fail even if the installer is updated (ISO: 20.04.3, Updated version: 20.06.1)

Environment: ESXi-7.0.0-15843807-standard
Guest OS family: Linux
Guest OS version: Ubuntu Linux (64-bit)
No difference between "Thin provisioned" or "Thick provisioned", both fail.

Can you attach the crash report that should have been generated? This sounds like https://bugs.launchpad.net/subiquity/+bug/1878148 but it's hard to tell with the information provided.
