Can't install 18.04 on top of imsm raid

Bug Description

I'm installing 18.04.2 on top of Supermicro server with Intel software RAID controller.
The logical disk is created on top of 2 physical devices as RAID1, but subiquity recognizes underlaying disks only. The OS itself shows mdraid device created on top of 2 physicals (per lsblk).

If I use the iso with Ubiquity (ubuntu server 18.04.2) - there is a step before configuring the partitions "activate software RAID" or something, and it is able to create partitions straight on top of the software raid handled by the motherboard controller.

To be clear, this is more "firmware raid" (i.e. imsm) than software raid, right? If so, it's on the list to be fixed before 19.04.

Changed in subiquity:
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → High
summary: - Can't install 18.04 on top of intel software raid
+ Can't install 18.04 on top of imsm raid

Well, that's what is integrated into intel's motherboard. The major difference with the normal raid cards is that I can still see the physical devices in the OS, as well as mdraid device created by the controller.
Is it somehow appear in the roadmap list? So that I can prove it to the customer.
Thanks!

Yes, that's the thing I mean. It is going to be fixed as part of the "reusing existing partitions" roadmap item.

I think this bug is fixed yes, but I can't test it myself and I haven't heard any reports back. If someone can test it, I'd happy close it!
