Background changes to aubergine only after VT-2, VT-1

Bug Description
This is quite minor, however I thought I would report it.
During the Splash "4 dots" loading screen of the subiquity image that I am testing (0.0.38 r7 snap package), it starts off as a black background. If I change to vt2 during the splash screen, and back to vt1, the background is aubergine (which looks much nicer).
I expect it to be Aubergine during the whole boot process.
