Bug Description

I would love if subdownloadert were able to recognize the subtitles already present/downloaded, when scanning directories. This way one could only download the subtitles that are still missing (for example those of newly downloaded episodes).

Hi!

This is already what SD does on the background.

Why do you feel this isn't done?

Changed in subdownloader:
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

Hi!
First of all let me tell you that subdownloader is an awesome piece of
software. But it only recognizes subs downloaded from the
opensubtitles.org website. For people (like me, and I guess many
others) who download subtitles from different (multiple) sites,
subdownloader always try to download subtitles also for video files
that already have subtitles.

IMO when the program scans a folder, it should check for the presence
of text files with the same name as the video file, and skip them by
default.

For example, in the following folder:

VideoFile.S01E01.avi
VideoFile.S01E01.srt
VideoFile.S01E02.avi
VideoFile.S01E03.avi
VideoFile.S01E03.srt
VideoFile.S01E04.avi
VideoFile.S01E04.srt

Subdownloader should notice the presence of the .srt files and propose
to download only the missing subtitles for episode 2.
I hope I was clear enough to illustrate what I mean (sorry but english
is not my primary language).

Maybe this could be a feature that could be enabled/disabled in the
preferences menu...

Let me know what you think.
Keep up the great work.

Luca

Hi,

currently SD only checks if a subtitles is already downloaded in your folder by checking MD5 hash of the online subtitle and the subtitle already in the folder.

We can check the patterns you say to propose the user to Upload subtitles that we don't have in the server.

Best Regards.

What version of subdownloader do you use? and it's linux or windows?

I think it already does that automatically.. it's a strange thing.

I see.

Why not? It would benefit both sides.

BTW, I'm using v2.0.9 under Kubuntu Hardy.
