Selected object details at upper left of screen get scrambled

Bug Description

Sometimes this information is unreadable because of overwriting or random characters showing up. This is while running the latest version of XP Home Edition.
Even when correctly displayed, this data would be much more readable if all the columns lined up instead of being staggered back and forth. Using a fixed-width font and right-justifying all the numbers should be easy to do.
Thanks!

It's just a suggestion; no need to be sarcastic about it.

That wasn't sarcasm. You stated what you thought should be done, and how difficult the task was. You would only know the later if you were able to do the work yourself. SO I logically concluding you were making an offer to help. The only other possible conclusion from your post was you were being dismissive of the development effort going into the project.

Take your pick.

Why do you assume I was offering to do it? I'm an end-user who isn't about to mess with the actual programming of your project and didn't think a simple suggestion would be interpreted in this manner. I happen to be a programmer myself and know how dangerous it is for someone not familiar with a program to make the slightest change to it. However, a mere formatting change should be a piece of cake for those who *are* familiar with it.

Your reasoning escapes me, and your hostility is ridiculous!

O.K. I'll cease the hostility. So lets see what can be done.

Do I understand you correctly that there are two issues here:

1. text gets scrambled. This is the text that displays information about the selected object.

2- you have a feature request to better align the text displayed in the upper left.

Is this accurate?

That's correct. I was not at all "disparaging" the program because it is a very impressive application which should be winning awards if it hasn't already.

Let's consider this issue for the scrambled text. Please open a new one for the feature request on text alignment.

Does the "scrambled text" thing occur all the time or only sometimes?

If it's all the time, please try starting the program from the "Stellarium (no OpenGL 2)" shortcut in its Start Menu folder.

Hello,
I've been running version 0.12.4 for some time and have not noticed this problem recurring, so you may drop this from your list.
However, I decided to upgrade to version 0.14.2 today on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit computer, but it failed with an "Open GL 2 not found on this system; upgrade hardware or use MESA" message, so can you tell me which version of Stellarium will work with this setup?

I tried upgrading my XP Home Edition machine as well to the appropriate 0.14.2 version, but it failed for a different reason! I just need to know how far back I should go for it to work.

Thanks for your help,
Jeff Wells

You can have two (or more, I have 3-7 usually :-) versions installed, but you must change installation folder during the setup dialog to keep them separate.
