Bug Description

Stellarium has the potential to be a great software tool if only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This program has so many buggggs it just is unreal! How about actually fixing them? This has been going on for a number of years and the new version is not any better than the ones I tried years ago??? Fullscreen mode is a waste - not much works right. By running WinSize v1.6 I can force Stellarium to run 1 pixell less than full screenmode and it works Ok. How hard can this be to fix???? What happened to the letter "j" in object? How about a button to start communication with a connected telescope on the main task bar? This could be a great program but seems we too interested in updating a web-site that worked fine and now does not. The link for reporting bugs does not sort correctly by date/status etc... You screwed up something that was working OK. Lets fix the bugggs and not create new ones!

First, you write very many emotions and very little info.

Second, I think you use ATI graphics card with ancient or MS drivers. Please try run Stellarium via "No OpenGL2" shortcut. If it not work try set "Disable desktop composition" mode in the properties of "Stellarium.exe". Also you can switched ON the Triple Buffering in ATI CCC. And latest solution for user - you can update drivers for graphics card from site of manufacturer.

Third, we use connection to telescopes without troubles direct from Stellarium. But this plugin can't work in telepathic mode - you need set some settings.

Four, what's website you mean? launchpad.net?

Five, you don't saw string "order by" in bug tracker of Stellarium?

And latest point - you can fix bug yourself, if you can it make.

1st - the last time I actually listed all the information -YOU closed the bug report because a few posters got off track so why should I waste my time to post information that will just be treminated?

2cnd - No I do not use ATI on my laptop that runs Stellarium, I do however have ATI on this system but like I said I do not run Stellarium on this machine. The Laptop uses Intel graphics.

3rd - Yes I know how to access the telescope control plugin and how to make it work - This was a suggestion to add a button to connect to the scope on the main task bar. It is a suggestion.

4th - YES - launchpad.net bug reporting link from the main Stellarium home page - it worked fine last week but now does not when sorting via other options.

5th Are you telling me to fix it? Then why bother with donations? This program has so many bugs it is absolutely a joke, why would I donate to a bunch of coders that can not fix anything? Whoever makes a donation here is wasting theiir money - nothing gets fixed, it is as messed up now as it was years ago. That is a shame as it has great potential.

1st - I think you wrote about bug #806090 - troubles for Oculars plugin with fullscreen mode.

3rd - Please make new bug report to this proposal - I'm add it in our wish list.

4th - We can not modified UI of launchpad.net

5th - What money? We don't got any money. You wrote comment for bug report around a month ago, but in latest 3 month only 2 developers was with free personal time for develop to Stellarium and fixing bugs. If you can fix those "joke bugs" then can fix their, but don't tell me then I MUST fix their with light speed. More, I can't reproduce those bug with Oculars on my Linux.

Alexander

Does Stellarium use QuickTime?

The reason I ask is that I also Run Starry Night Pro software on my laptop with an older version of QT, The newer versions of QT do not work with Starry Night. Could this be causing the Full Screen/Ocular problem????? I use QT v7.3.1 on the laptop, versions 7.4 and newer do not work with Starry Night Pro.

I added some info to the #806090 thread about a workaround that works.

This report was from 2012 and came with little or no context (version, logfile, platform, ...). New versions don't run on old hardware. Use old versions on old hardware. There is no point of leaving this report open as "confirmed". I set this to invalid.
