Corrupted text in the status bar

Original title: Just downloaded; Status line is not there; When move mouse over a menu item just nonsense letter instead of words appear above where the status bar should be

Have windows 7 on my laptop. I am not an astronomer or a computer geek. Help!!!

Try install drivers for your graphics card from site of manufacturer of card

Please try starting Stellarium from the "Stellarium (no OpenGL 2)" shortcut in Stellarium's folder in the Start menu.

Please report the results, so that we can know what to do with the bug report.

Thanks for your rapid response.
The program seems to work fine if started with "Stellarium (no OpenGL 2)"
from the Start Menu.
