Bug Description

For some reason I can't get Stellarium to launch properly on my home Win10 PC. Shortly after the main window loads, it freezes and crashes.

Last run log file: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0Y-k4wyuspkRDFmYkNpblBkeGs
I've captured a crash dump using ADPlus, which can be found here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0Y-k4wyuspkem5aVUhCS1pMaVk

logfile is just a link (.lnk file). Does it (the real file) contain anything suspicious?

Oops, sorry about the link file. No I do not see anything of suspicion in there. This link should be the correct file:

The ...AppData\Roaming\Stellarium also contains an output.txt file, which is empty.

The installation is clean in the sense that I have made no attempts to add plugins or change any settings away from the default.

Are you have firewall?

Nothing out of the ordinary, just the Windows builtin firewall. I have no issues with connectivity in any of my other installed programs.

On the next 2 steps are loading Meteor Showers plugin and Stellarium got the coordinates through network. Could you show config.ini file?

P.S. Can you delete the ssystem_minor.ini file from your C:\Users\jesha\AppData\Roaming\Stellarium\data folder?

Deleting the file had no effect on the crash. There's a new recreated ssystem_minor.ini in the folder.

Are you using pi-hole DNS server?

I am indeed. Switching to Google's public DNS resolves the issue. I longer crash if I'm not using the pi.hole DNS server.

I'd love to get this workaround a bit more solid. Do you know which addresses I should add to the DNS whitelist in order to continue using my pi.hole DNS server but not have Stellarium crash?

By the way, what was the clue that tipped you off that the pi.hole DNS server could be responsible? That was some mightily impressive deducting!

I just read the thread at bug #1706187, and adding freegeoip.net to my pi.hole whitelist resolves the problem. Feel free to close this report as a duplicate, as I have no additional information relevant not contained in the report at bug #1706187.
