When you see a crash when zooming to about 5°, this has been reported several times before. Delete the existing star catalogs in your user data directory. Does that help?

I am having this issue, and the system threw me to this bug report. I would like to delete my star files to check if it works, but, frankly, I cannot find the files. where and what are the filenames that I need to remove? Can I reinstall the star catalogs after finding out if their installation is the problem?

I didn't hear anything back after my last message, so I blew Stellarium away on my computer and reloaded 15.1.1 fresh, with no extra stars or add ons loaded. I still get the crash when zooming in. Any other suggestions or should I just quit recommending Stellarium to the thousands of people that I teach astronomy to year after year? I cannot recommend a crash prone program that no one is willing to support.

Please check files in the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\User\AppData\Roaming\Stellarium\stars\default\".
Is there stars_4_1v0_1.cat or stars_4_1v0_2.cat?

In case of "v0_1", please try to kill (move) it and reload the star data from the internet (v0_2 will be loaded).

I found no log.txt file either. I did a fresh install of 15.1.1, with no
added star files or added files of any kind. If I do a deep zoom during
the daytime views, there are no errors. If I time advance to a night
view, and do a deep zoom with stars in the field of view, it crashes and
I get the error.

Michael Czybor, you are use version 0.15.1.0, not 0.15.1.1.

log.txt should be in C:\Documents and Settings\User\AppData\Roaming\Stellarium directory

@Alexander Wolf: Yes, but i told it before. I am using Version 0.15.0 because of this bug. I found the "log.txt" in the hidden Folder "..\AppData\Roaming\..". I read it and i found no related entries. Because of a lot of "private data" i prefer not to publish my log-file. The screenshot i send shows that in the old Version "0.15.0", that i am currently use, an error occurs when i am loading (reloading) the star maps. In earlier times i had not this problem.

I guess that this new error could be related to the new "star map format". I dont know if there is a new Format, but it seems so (when i read the postings in this thread).

So let me please know, if there is a new Version available...

May the force be with you! :-)

Nope. You are wrong. It is not fixed. I am still forced to drop back to
version 15.0 to get a version where I can zoom without the system crashing.
