$ echo "export SVGA_VGPU10=0" >> ~/.bashrc
I had the same issue trying to use Gazebo along with ROS.
My solution was to downgrade OpenGL from 3.3 to 2.1 as written here: http:// www.mesa3d. org/vmware- guest.html
