Bug Description

Version 0.13.3 on Retina MacBook Pro, Mid 2012.

When put into Night Mode, the screen zooms into the lower left quarter of the screen, and the UI becomes pixelated. Something about night mode is not compatible with the retina display and so the sky zooms in, while the UI is able to scale properly. When taken out of night mode, everything returns to normal.

I know what is causing this, but not why. Steal.cpp:738 is an emit() statement; if this is commented out, then night mode is not set, and the zooming behavior does not happen. The problem is, I can find no where this signal is actually consumed.

I'll need to look into it more.

nightMode is implemented through QML shaders.

Tim, please look at StelMainView.cpp:871 - adding guiWidget->update(); solved the issue?

This was also noted in bug #1383035 (Stellarium 0.13.1).

It also zooms into the lower left quadrant for mirror mode. (even without "night mode".

Can anybody check latest binary package - code for night mode has been rewritten.

I downloaded Stellarium-0.13.69.0.dmg and the problem is still not fixed.

Here is the info from the downloaded version that I tested this with:

[ This is Stellarium 0.14.0 - http://www.stellarium.org ]

Perhaps another follower of this bug can confirm?

I've just upgraded my MacBook Pro (Early 2013) to OS X El Capitan - 10.11 and the Night Mode still has the same lower left corner zoom issue.

Hi, I have tested 0.14.0 and 0.14.55 beta on a Mac (OSX 10.11.1 ElCapitan, Retina 15 inch, 16 GB Ram, graphics GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB)
I can set Stellarium into mirror mode and it does fine. BUT if I save the mirrored config file as default, then when I reopen later, it goes to the lower left corner.
I can then unselect warping, save, and the next time it opens, it opens properly in fisheye. But it doesn’t open properly if saved as warped.

Getting better though!! Thanks for your help - you’re ALMOST there!
