Bug Description
This feature request from old bug tracker.
Hi,
I'm looking for tools to develop a personal collection of asterisms in the night sky based on the stars' apparent magnitudes and proximity to each other. The tools I have in mind are as follows: I want to be able to display a subset of stars brighter than a given magnitude. For each star in that subset, I want to be able to draw a circle around it whose radius is directly proportional to its apparent magnitude. I want the ratio of the circle's radius and the star's magnitude to be adjustable. This would result in areas of the night sky with overlapping circles, which would be most suggestive of asterisms. Once these areas were established, people could ponder their shapes and create their own asterisms accordingly. It would also be nice to be able to connect any two stars with a line so that people could 'draw' their personal asterisms and print them out. I was wondering if you could write a patch to Stellarium that would add these features or if you know of any other programs that have them. Kind of a bizarre request, I know, but I hope I've explained my ideas clearly enough.
Thanks!
