I can't reproduce this issue. Please show log.txt from ~/.stellarium

It's not a code error it is a visual error in rendering.

I found it running stellarium time to my local transit time and what
happens is Venus stays as a bright star when in front of the sun. it
should be a silhouette.

Please try Stellarium 0.11.3 - maybe you have calculation planet phase bug.

Yes, this is planet phase bug. This bug was closed for version 0.11.3.

P.S. You can also try RPM for 0.11.4dev1 (32-bit) from here: https://launchpad.net/stellarium/0.11/0.11.3/+download/Stellarium-0.11.4dev1-i686.rpm
