Bug Description

On the main page in French (http://spreadubuntu.neomenlo.org/fr), I can't localize the content of the Campaigns and the News.

inside Campaigns: no "Translate" tab.

inside News: there is a "Translate" tb, but the page says that the language need to be activated and redirects to this page:
http://spreadubuntu.neomenlo.org/fr/admin/settings/language
with a "403 error - refused access" despite I am logged in.

Thank you for your report.

Campaigns are not translatable using the translate tab. Instead, they
should use the "translate text" black button.
This is a problem with the design. I think that polls should be
global, not language specific. Since nodes have completele seperate
data when they are translated (like materials), the poll would be
seperated.

News however should work. I will look into that.

It should be fixed now.

The problem is that when you are translating a node, you are creating a new node, and as such you must have permission to create a new node of that type. Regular authenticated users were not allowed to post "news" or "story" content, and could not translate.

I would not have allowed all authenticated users to do so just now if they weren't all from launchpad. I still don't like it a whole lot, but I see the need for internationalization is more important than my desire to maintain total control. After all, they cannot edit or delete existing content, so there shouldn't be too much of a problem.

thank you for your quick answer. I translated a News , but the original (in English) is still displayed behind... is it normal?

It's not normal. I can't figure out a way around it either.

It's because I'm using views, and views is unaware of translation "sets" and thinks that the english and french version are two different nodes, rather than being from the same translation set.

Can't see any progress on the drupal bug tracker...

Maybe we can test relations.

can you push the code for the new homepage to LP/bzr and a database dump?

I would like to start having an instance in my machine just for testing and bug reporting
