Gnome Shell - Progress bar the same colour as background with only small outline of slightly different shade making it almost impossible to tell the progress of your action

This issue is not present under Unity, but is under Gnome Shell. The issue is is that if you perform an operation on an item, whether that may be removing or installing a new application through the Ubuntu Software Center, the progress bar is the same colour as background with only small outline of slightly different shade making it almost impossible to tell the progress of your action.
