Bug Description

Applications after installation via Ubuntu Software Center are creating unusable shortcuts on the launcher panel.

But they can be launched from the Dash.

If you remove this shortcuts from the launcher and then drag'n'drop it from the Dash - they also can be launched.

If you install applications from the Dash it creates usable shortcuts on the launcher panel and they can be launched without any problem.

This is due to recent change in Unity code dealing with installing applications from the Software Center. The Software Center is also supposed to have some updates to work in conjunction with these Unity changes, but they have not yet made it into the distro.

I have tried Software Center from lp:software-center and this issue goes away, so we'll just have to wait for an update to Software Center in 13.10. I'm not sure when this will be. Hopefully, someone from that team can chime in.

BTW, I'll leave the Unity bug open for now, but will Invalidate it if/when Software Center is updated. If Software Center is not updated with these changes, then we'll probably have to do something in Unity to correct this behavior.
