Bug Description

Since the last snapd Update 1.37.4ubuntu0.1 chromium is unable to start, because it cannot make mkdir create the (temporary?) folder '/run/user/0'.

If started from command line, chromium returns: Trace/Breakpoint ausgelöst (Speicherabzug geschrieben) (Trace/Breakpoint triggered (Memory Dump written))
If started with sudo it also reports the error message ('mkdir: cannot create directory '/run/user/0': Permission denied').

that is mostly expected to fail, it would probably fail even after that detail

sounds like there is core dump there, that would be a bug in the snap itself, but would need more information

Usually I am not running chromium under sudo.

Where would snap put a core dump?

It should have been intercepted by systemd. Try running coredumpctl.

/home/ace28/.config/chromium/Crash Reports/ is empty.

Would the files in /snap/chromium/current/snap/ help?

/home/ace28/.config/chromium/Crash Reports/ is empty.

Would the files in /snap/chromium/current/snap/ help?

I am sorry for the repost. I only seem to see the first three comments, but I am getting the mails.

coredumpctl does not find a dump:

ace28@ace28-Aspire-1810TZ:~/Downloads$ coredumpctl
No coredumps found.

After having installed coredumpctl I tried starting chromium under sudo again and got some more output:

Hope that helps =D

Well, for some reason I can not comprehend, chromium works again. There was no update. Only another reboot.

As I am writing this, chromium is running without the folder /run/user/0 existing.

Hopefully this bug will not appear again. If there is anything I could help with: please let me know.

Thank you for your work and best regards,

ace28
