After that configured a connection using Network Manager to get IP address over cellular. About an hour later Snap update ran in the background which caused all the Snap applications to update. The modem stopped being recognized. The output from Modem Manager is:
user1-company@
No modems were found
user1-company@
Therefore, the new changes in the latest Modem Manager is causing the modem not to be recognized.
