"snap get" reports no configuration on an uninstalled snap

Snap 2.59.1 (latest/stable) -- if I don't even have the nextcloud snap installed but I try to check its config info, I get:

$ snap get nextcloud
error: snap "nextcloud" has no configuration
$

This seems more than a little misleading since the snap isn't even installed. After I install it:

$ snap get nextcloud
Key Value
http {...}
mode production
nextcloud {...}
php {...}
ports {...}
private {...}
$

Should the first command not have just said, "I'm sorry, Dave, that snap is not installed"?
