Bug Description

snap run --strace appears to be broken on Fedora 31:

[pawel@localhost ~]$ snap run --strace=-f hello-world
[sudo] password for pawel:
/var/lib/snapd/snap/strace-static/current/bin/strace: Unexpected wait status 0x8b
error: exit status 1

journalctl reports segfault from strace (see attached log).

This is with core and strace-static from stable.

$ snap list

core 16-2.42.1 8039 stable canonical✓ core
core18 20191030 1265 stable canonical✓

This was also reported by zyga in bug #1868461 so it's apparently not Fedora-specific.

This is still present as of Fedora 33.

It's also possibly worth noting the fact that the strace-static snap hasn't seen any updates (even in the edge channel) since May 2019. The stable branch hasn't seen any since Feb 2018. Not sure if that represents a problem. Is it still maintained actively by Canonical?
