can't install snapd on Linux Mint 18.03

Bug Description

Error messages at end of attempted install are as follows:

Err:1 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 snapd amd64 2.29.4.2
  404 Not Found [IP: 2001:67c:1560:8001::11 80]
E: Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/s/snapd/snapd_2.29.4.2_amd64.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 2001:67c:1560:8001::11 80]

E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?

Apparently missing some files from the repository? Can't proceed any further so Polarr can't be installed.

Turns out an update to the system was required. I had forgotten that Linux requires a manual check for such things. There were quite a number of updates and, after a restart, the snapd installation proceeded as expected. So no bug.
