Bug Description

Users are reporting that GIMP no longer works https://github.com/snapcrafters/gimp/issues/17

I have confirmed this in Ubuntu 18.04, 17.10 and 16.04 all using snapd 2.32.5.

I manually downloaded core 2.32.4 from https://dashboard.snapcraft.io/snaps/core/revisions/4452/ as https://dashboard.snapcraft.io/snaps/core/revisions/4452/download and installed it in a 17.10 VM. This replaced 2.32.5 with 2.32.4. I ran GIMP and it launches.

Seems something broke between revision 4452 (2.32.4) and 4486 (2.32.5)

I think this may be a bug in the gimp snap, not core. Downgrading core to 4452 (2.32.4) does not resolve the bug for me, however installing gimp from revision 30 does.

Refreshing to 33 does not trigger the bug, but removing gimp and installing from 33 does. It looks like upgrades were unaffected.

If someone else can confirm that r33 of gimp works, I'll revert stable to that revision (and do the same for other architectures).

This appears to a bug in the gimp snap, not snapd.
