signup process does not send activation email

Bug Description

Signup process does not send activation email.

Steps to reproduce:
1. go to https://forum.snapcraft.io/
2. fill in the signup form
3. click on "create new account" button
4. Activation email was no received by gmail.
5. I tried login and click on "resend activation email" button

Expected behavior: receive activation email
Current behavior: I did not receive the activation email.

Have you checked the gmail spam folder? Recently a very similar email I received went right into the spam folder.

It looks like Gmail is declining to accept messages from the forum, even after I switched discourse to using our mail relay instead of direct delivery.

It's possible that re-sending might be more successful, since perhaps Gmail permanently flagged the original message as contaminated somehow (although maybe not, since that'd be a lot of information to store and distribute...).

I've filed a ticket in our internal system to investigate further measures to improve deliverability (cRT#115397). Until then all that we can recommend is that you use a different mail provider, or perhaps a forwarding service.

The activation link worked fine, thanks.

Does this bug occur only with Gmail accounts?

I did not check the request using the web browser inspector tool, maybe the
bug is there.
