signup process does not send activation email

Bug Description
Signup process does not send activation email.
Steps to reproduce:
1. go to https:/
2. fill in the signup form
3. click on "create new account" button
4. Activation email was no received by gmail.
5. I tried login and click on "resend activation email" button
Expected behavior: receive activation email
Current behavior: I did not receive the activation email.

Have you checked the gmail spam folder? Recently a very similar email I received went right into the spam folder.
