Bug Description

Currently, the Snap Store GUI has no Flatpak plugin that upstream GNOME Software includes. This makes installing and managing Flatpak software really hard on Ubuntu.

The only possible solution (that is also mentioned on https://flatpak.org/setup/Ubuntu/) is to install the "gnome-software-plugin-flatpak" package that will install non-Snap version of GNOME Software with its Flatpak plugin, then uninstall Snap Store (because having two installations of GNOME Software at the same time is not a good idea). This is not ideal and not suitable for (regular) end-users.

Please, consider adding the Flatpak plugin to Snap Store for Ubuntu 22.04. Thanks!

I also would hope that the Ubuntu team could consider this feature request. I do understand that Ubuntu doesn't have plans to ship flatpak by default, but from a user perspective it would be beneficial if snap-store-desktop would have the ability to support them.

I second this , we need a simple way to activate flatpak support for our clients, or we will just remove the snap store

Can anybody confirm that Canonical has no intention to enable Flatpak anytime ?

If this is the case just reject the Bug and We will know that we have to replace Snap-store with Gnome-software and add the flatpak plugin as the first thing to do on our master image.

With recent announcement , I think we can close this feature forever and build our own Ubuntu distro with flatpak enabled.

Yeah, probably can be closed. See this GitHub comment from the new Flutter based software store developer for more context:
