What version? What distribution? Do you see the process still running if you use
'top' on a terminal window?

Reproducibility: Usually

Steps to reproduce:
1. smart --gui
2. File->Update Channels

Observed behaviour:
3. "Operation Progress" dialog window pops up and information on various
channels is downloaded. At some seemingly random point before 100%, the
application locks up. Clicking the Cancel button does nothing; it doesn't even
depress. The window does continue to be repainted, though. No console output.

The only thing to do at this point is to manually kill the program and try again.

Expected behaviour:
3. All channels should be updated; the cancel button should work as expected.
