Bug Description

The user really needs a way to manage applications in Slingshot! I have applications like Telegram, Tor Messenger, and so many different apps that won't appear in Slingshot. I have a folder in files full of six applications that I cannot view in Slingshot and therefore have to only open them from files. And there are many times I have installed applications used for developing and I don't want them cluttering up my Applications launcher so I have to delete the desktop file from applications and sometimes have to fiddle with alacarte as well.

It just needs a simple interface to manage all the applications. Perhaps you could only access it from settings or from searching for it in slingshot.

I know the ideal way is to only have apps that are in the elementary appcenter but that is simply just not realistic. Even apple has an easy way to manage what is viewable in launchpad via the applications dir.

Gonna mark this as "wont' fix". It's the responsibility of the application to create a .desktop file an install it to the system. If an application is not doing that, this is a bug in that application.
