Bug Description
I recently installed the .deb package of Github's Atom text editor.
After installation, the icon of Atom wasn't displayed in the application menu.
I had to search for it by typing 'at' and then Atom was displayed along with other apploications.
Applications installed from Software Center are immediately displayed in the application menu alphabetically.

When installing manually, you need to manually refresh the menu
