Bug Description

For some reason, I can no longer type in the "Search Apps..." box in Slingshot. No text appears when I type. Having typed, slingshot then becomes unresponsive and it takes a long time for windows behind the launcher to regain focus having clicked outside the launcher window.

Slingshot still works if I just use the mouse to select an app or flick through the numbered panes at the bottom.

There's a conflict with ibus somewhere. I just tried it without ibus running and it worked fine.

I use fcitx on my system for Chinese text input. I killed fcitx and sure enough, slingshot works again. That seems to suggest there is a conflict with all input methods - could potentially affect a large number of users.

Yes, the issue here is slingshot conflict with IBUS. If quit Ibus, slingshot will works fine. This's critical bug cause input method is a daily using service.

This bug is presumably affecting the vast majority of East Asian elementary users (China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam etc.) who use Ibus or fcitx for their native text input...
