In the applications menu search box I can't remove all highlighted text at once, only the last character

Bug Description
Whenever I need to remove some text, I usually click shift+home to highlight one line of text and hit delete or backspace to remove it. This does not seem to work in Applications menu search input as highlighted text removes only the last character.
