Bug Description

my client periodically sends out a PDF newsletter to their 2000+ member community. singing and dancing is a very good fit - thanks! however, they want the newsletter to be presented in the browser "on" their site - ie, the newsletter email to have a link directly to the object, rather than the .../document.pdf/at_download/file download of the object. unfortunately, the control over this is deep in the view machinery, so i don't see how to easily change it, and enhance singing&dancing to offer the option to send a direct rather than download link.

i wish someone would help with this.

for now i am using a really terrible post-processing hack of the newsletter link in the compose-html.pt template in order to remove the "/at_download/file" link, which obviously doesn't generalize in any way at all. i would much rather have a toggle on the configuration for posting the specific item, to elect to go directly to the item rather than it's download action. help?

I assume you're a collector / smart folder to get to your PDF newsletters. Now the view machinery provides a hook that you can use to have your collected items look different than the default representation (which comes straight out of the Plone view and is really unsuitable in most cases). Rok once described how this is done: http://sharbas.blogspot.com/2008/09/make-sd-dance-your-way.html

If we wanted this to be changeable through the UI, we would probably need a registry of these IFormatItem adapters and ship some common ones with S&D. That way users could activate and deactivate IFormatItem adapters through the web.
