Actually hitting P multiple times allows you to cycle through the list of all items with this modifier.
For me "A" is also used for "Scan" as well as for "Save As".

Thanks for working on this, but this is not easily fixable. The Print and Preferences menu items are standard menu items with standard mnemonics (that's what the name for the underscored letter is). So Simple Scan doesn't assign them. However, it is valid to share mnemonics as Michael pointed out. It's better for the mnemonics to be predictable than to be unique.

The branch you proposed added an accelerator (key combination that activates the menu from anywhere in the program) but it's not necessary to have an accelerator for an infrequently used menu item like this.
