Bug Description
When a user opens the Save as window, the default extension is always JPG.
Suggested change is as follows:
If a user is saving a single page, have the default extension be JPG
If a user is saving multiple pages, have the default extension be PDF
If this implementation would require much more work than an if block, then have the default extension as PDF regardless of the number of pages scanned. It was a maddening experience, when I accidentally saved a large multipage document as JPG instead of PDF and then closed the app. Most people save to PDF anyways.

I think it will be simpler to just set the default to PDF. As you mention, most people will probably save to PDF anyway. Those who want a simple image will just have to choose it from the save dialog.
