Bug Description

MAC OSX 10.6.8 64 bit

This is a major bummer... I can't launch the IDE anymore. It was working fine for days and then just stopped. Now, when I try to launch it, I get the following error:

"Cannot Launch Java Application

Uncaught exception in main method: java.lang.NullPointerException"

No idea why this might be happening... it came out of nowhere. I've reinstalled both Java and Sikuli, with no luck.

I can still launch scripts from the command line, but IDE doesn't work.

I was able to resolve the problem by uninstalling Sikuli, installing an older version (rc2), launching it, then closing and reinstalling rc3.

Your solution suggests that it is a problem based on the new feature "restart last session".

see faq 1766: On Mac one could always try to reset Sikuli by deleting

org.sikuli.ide.plist in ~/Library/Preferences

I was able to reproduce this... I believe I caused it when I manually deleted an unused png from a .sikuli package... which Sikuli then tried to open when it attempted to restart the last session. Deleting unused images wasn't a problem in RC2, but now it appears to cause this issue.

Is there a better way to remove unused image files? Sometimes Sikuli seems to delete them automatically, other times they sit around indefinitely, taking up space.

FYI, deleting org.sikuli.ide.plist does indeed resolve the issue as you suggest.

normally, images that are not referenced in the script are deleted, when you save a script. If you realize, this is not done, try to change something (e.g. add a comment) and save it again.
