save as results in error

using advanced screen grab tool
grab a selection of a desktop
comes up in a session
go to save as
and this error dialog pops up:
'can't call method "get-width" on an undefined value
at /usr/share/shutter/resources/modules/Shutter/Pixbuf/Thumbnail.pm line 75'

after clicking off this error message
the file is saved with the following error
foo.png.
with a '.' after the filename
