Taking screenshot with Shutter crashes Compiz/Unity in Ubuntu 13.04

I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.04 using the open source ATI video driver. I installed Shutter 0.89 from the Ubuntu native repository and I noticed that occasionally Compiz (and presumably Unity with it) will crash.

I upgraded Shutter to version 0.90 from http://shutter-project.org/ and was hoping that the crashing would go away, but Compiz has crashed today on trying to take a screenshot from a "selection".

I never had this issue in Ubuntu 12.04 on the open source ATI drivers if this helps. I have launched Shutter from the terminal in hopes to catch a SIGFAULT or similar on crash, but I've not learned anything from this.

Let me know if there are some troubleshooting steps I can take to diagnose what might be happening.
