Bug Description

I am running the latest Shot well on Ubuntu 11.10 when ever I connect my camera the hide last imported hides a couple of pics but not all, also when I view the last imported option in the side bar it only shows a few pics as well not all the pics that were part of the last import. I know this might not seem like a big deal bit it is, the hassle of trying to work out what to import and what not is a pain you can do without, this is an otherwise awaesome app.

Thanks
Jim

Ps I raised a new bug as couldn't change #791928 from fixed.

Jim,

what kind of camera do you have? Does this problem happen after every single import? If you import, say, 20 pictures from your camera and then select Last Import from the sidebar, does it show almost all the pictures (say, 18 or 19), or just a few? Are you importing only JPEG photos, or RAW photos as well? Do you notice any pattern in the photos which fail to appear in Last Import? For example, are those the latest photos you took with the camera, or the earliest?

Hi Adam,

thanks so much for contacting me so quickly, I am an Oracle application
developer so I know how annoying bug reports can be when working on new
functionality.

Well first off the embarrassing part, I do not have the best camera in the
world as just trying to get in to photography, the camera is a
FujiFilmS3280.

The photo that is getting hidden with the hide already imported flag is
only one pic, and it is the same pic every time, no other pic ever gets hid
when I tick that flag. Say I went and took 30 pics today and connect my
camera and then ticked the flag, the same pic would be hidden but no
others, I could delete that pic and see what happens?

As for the last imported collection, it is a mix of old and new ones
doesn't seem any rhyme or reason to that, but will certainly try and do
some testing to see if I can spot a pattern. Is always only about 10-20
though.

And finally, it is jpegs I am importing.

I hope that helps, and again thanks to all you guys for a great application.

Cheers
Jim

This looks like a bug already reported upstream at

We should investigate this for the upcoming 0.12 release.

Hi

I have tried running shotwell with a new DB using the -d command line start
up and this seems to have fixed last import filter as it is working
perfectly now. I think it might have been something in my Ubuntu
inexperience that screwed this up. However, I need to confirm that even
when using the fresh database via the command line that the hide already
imported flag is still not working, it again is hiding only one picture, a
different one from the other database, but one just the same.

Just wanted to give this small update

thanks

Changed in shotwell (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Triaged

I moved photos after import, so shotwell can't find them and can't mark them as "already imported".
But it's bad habit! I want shotwell to log imports and decide what imported and what is not only by this log.
