Bug Description

Binary package hint: shotwell

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Photos/Slideshows

Obviously there is screensaver capability; else, this bug would have been reported now, but at the least there is something missing from the documentation that needs to be fixed to instruct me better how to get it working.

Using Shotwell 0.7.2 under Ubuntu 10.10.
Documentation says to select the Shotwell Photos screensaver theme under System->Preferences->Screensaver. This option is not available (though F-spot photos and Pictures folder are).
Documentation also says in order to change the tag used for the screensaver to select screensaver under edit->preferences in Shotwell. There is no screensaver tab, button or option (only display, library location and external editors)

*See attached screenshots.

There is no Shotwell screensaver. This is a documentation bug. The page with the wrong information is here:

https://help.ubuntu.com/10.10/musicvideophotos/C/photos-slideshow.html

I suspect that an older version of this page used to describe F-Spot, and someone simply replaced the word F-Spot with Shotwell without checking that this capability existed.

It would be nice to have a Shotwell screensaver at some point - see http://trac.yorba.org/ticket/1112 .

I've been reported this on #687450 and corfirm this and other problem related shotwell (see my bug).

A partially fixing is:

If you want to show off your photos in all of their glory, why not run a slideshow of them?
    * Watch a slideshow using the Image Viewer
    * Watch a slideshow using the Shotwell Photo Manager

Setting a Slideshow as Your Screensaver

You can use a slideshow of your photos as you screensaver:

   1. Press System → Preferences → Screensaver
   2. Select the Folder Images
   3. Phot present in Image folders will be displayed as your screensaver

The only possible method of picture screensavers is F-spot, not Shotwell. It still seems a screensaver feature for Shotwell hasn't been implemented to this day.
