launching a game results in a loop

Bug Description
After I start a game, the program launches in a loop where the game flashes very short on the screen and immediately closes again. This continues until I close the launcher application. I tried several of the games. Under ubuntu-mate 17.04.
I tried to launch the SGT-launcher from a terminal to get more information on error messages, but they did not show in there. Let me know if I can help narrowing the problem further down.
launching a individual game from the terminal does work for example 'sgt-slant' does launch the slant game properly.
