Bug Description

https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/automatic-updates.html

All this documentation on the web needs to have a date on it showing when it was last updated so people can see how relevant it is. There is so much documentation out there that has become totally irrelevant and is just confusing people between different versions.
This is basic documentation stuff guys! Very simple. Get into the 21st century please.

At the top of the page you referenced there's a breadcrumb trail showing you what version it's for:

Ubuntu 16.04 » Ubuntu Server Guide » Package Management »

Is there something insufficient about this?

There are some important updates needed for the 16.04 (LTS) Ubuntu serverguide that are already in the master code. We are going to do a point release update in just a few weeks, after the translators are given a couple of weeks.

Beyond that, you can help by submitting specific problem reports instead of a generic complaint.
You can help further by getting involved and making it happen. We are, and always have been, desperately under resourced.

Your link points to the automatic-updates pages, so be specific and tell us what is wrong and suggest how to fix it.

Yeah, there is a lot of stuff "out there". It may me a surprise to you, but the Ubuntu documentation team does not control the whole www.

Closing since this report is useless as a guidance for making changes.
