Bug Description
Ubuntu Server Guide on postgresql install on 12.04 LTS Server is wrong and unusable. I cant follow it as I dont find config files the guide is refering to. Also it seems to refer to older postgresql version which is not on 12.04 LTS

Thanks for taking the time to report this issue and make Ubuntu better.
I agree, the postgresql meta package in 12.04 has been updated to postgresql-9.1, the documentation should be updated as well. As this is already updated in 12.10 and 13.04 branches it should be fairly simple to pull back those updates, I will work on that.
In the mean time, the instructions from the 12.10 server guide should work for getting things working, as it uses the same updated version of posgresql. You can find it here: https:/ /help.ubuntu. com/12. 10/serverguide/ postgresql. html
