Bug Description

root@aitch100s76-laptop:/home/aitch100s76# apt-get install schooltool-2009
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
schooltool-2009: Depends: python-schooltool but it is not going to be installed
Depends: python-schooltool.stapp2008fall but it is not going to be installed
Depends: schooltool-common (>= 6) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
root@aitch100s76-laptop:/home/aitch100s76#

Operating System and configuration information in attached file.

I think this is the same as bug #379268

Make sure that universe is selected and enable hardy-updates repository.

I would like to know which packages causes that, maybe I can lower the versions of dependencies. Try
    apt-get install schooltool-common python-schooltool
And write what is missing.

Gediminas,

This is similar to #379268 but with Hardy Heron vs. Jaunty Jackelope.

I always have "Universe" turned on for other packages.

The same results are still occurring.

The problem compounded when Python updated recently.

Dave

OK, my fault, 6~ is less than 6.
I have uploaded schooltool-common 6ubuntu1 which will satisfy the dependencies of other packages, to both hardy and intrepid.

Changed in schooltool:
status: New → Fix Released

Gediminas,

That was the fix that made things work again. THANK YOU!

In addition to installing schooltool-common and python-schooltool; also
installing gradebook, lyceum.journal,
stapp2008fall, and schooltool-2009 _AND_ doing a full shutdown and reboot of
the system and all is well again.

This should also be the answer to bug #379268 but someone well have to test
it to prove it.

Again, thank you for the fix.
