Describing different section schedules for different date intervals

Because of some teacher changes in our schooll, we have to change section schedules. We have to implement new section schedules for the upcoming days. Although we have chosen add new schedule and defined the new schedule for the new date period, the old one and the new one are both shown and they overlap on calendar even for the past dates. What may be the reason for this? How can we solve this?
