Bug Description
Two things really: the comment editor is putting a blank space in by default at the beginning of the comment. Second, it is being escaped (or whatever) in the report card, like " Charlie is well prepared for Geometry next year!"
In addition to probably tweaking the behavior of both the editor and RML, I would be totally ok with stripping leading and trailing spaces (and line ends) from the beginning and end of comments. Teachers leave stuff like that hanging around after cutting and pasting all the time, and there is no point in retaining it.

It also seems to be escaping if you leave a double space after a period, as old, old people like me still do.
