canonname in addrinfo has wrong type

Bug Description

Attempting to use the canonname field in an addrinfo structure results in the bytes of the string pointer being interpreted as characters. See http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=25352327 for a test case that illustrates the problem. The attached patch fixes it.
