I have the same problem.
Every time I launch sbackup I get the same error message. however, I can "close" the notification window and continue using sbackup.
The program seems to run fine (despite the error message), but I did not test whether backups are affected by the bug or not.

I have been receiving this message every time I launch sbackup since upgrading to 13.04 a few days ago. It will not allow me to select a custom back-up destination, meaning I can no longer back-up to an external hard drive.

Rather defeats the purpose, if I can only back-up onto the same drive I'm backing-up ...

I receive (twice) the bug message, but after that I'm able to set my USB drive as destination.

I'm not at home for the next days, but I am more precise later if you request.

Sorry, I should have been more specific.

The message appears when I open the "destination" tab and select "Use custom local backup directory". If I close the message and keep trying, I can eventually select my external drive (after the message has reappeared at each stage), but there is then no option to save the configuration. I can navigate to any other tab, make a change and then save the configuration, apparently still with the correct destination selected, but when I close the configuration, it reverts to "use default backup directory". It retains my other changes, but not the destination.

I took some time because the normal destination of my backups is a USB
HD, who fails sometimes.

So I tested sending backups to a stable repertory.

I open Sbackup config : the bug displays twice
I select my destination (no save available) As a trick I change
p)lanning choice, and save, change back planning and save, then close.

Then Sbackup works according to my configuration (I tested 3 days)

But opening Sbackup config : the bug displays twice
………………

anyhow, according to https://launchpad.net/sbackup/+announcement/11998
the bug has been corrected, and it seems that there is a ppa in
launchpad.net/~nssbackup-team/+archive/ppa‎ te get the 11.6
However at the time launchpad is out of order.
