LiveCD does not configure network interfaces at bootup

Bug Description

The Breezy LiveCD's, upon detecting a NIC, will DHCP it at bootup. The Dapper LiveCD no longer does this. The interface stays down until the user configures it using the GNOME applet or the dhclient/ifconfig commands.

Also confirming that upon a system wide Breezy->Dapper upgrade, same behavior as tenshu describes (Configuring network interfaces instantly finishes but nothing is brought up), though post-bootup ifup eth0 works fine.

This also happens on the Flight 5 LiveCD for PPC. The (original-preExtreme) Airport card in my iBook is not found at bootup. I can sudo modprobe airport and it is detected and than I can use the Networking panel to configure the SSID and DHCP and join the network. Before the manual modprobe the AP interface was not listed in the panel. I don't konw if this needs a seperate bug for not detecting the AP card or not. Most current Ap problems are with AP Extreme cards. ISTR this working fine on a Breezy LiveCD.

Well, I'd say that network-manager effectively fixed this problem.

I think this bug has been fixed now, does anyone still have this problem?

even now that network-manager is removed, interfaces still DHCP correctly at
boot. So from what I can see and test, this is fixed.

This has been fixed in the dapper live cds a long time ago.
