HMS - need to be able to call things 'other than hospitals'

We need to manage additional "medical facilities" beyond hospitals. I think we can do this now without further modification as one is not prohibited from entering something that is not a hospital after you select "add hospital".
Other feature classes that we can expect will be added to the HMS are: "field hospitals", "clinics", "pharmacies", and "helipads". While it is easy to add these are locations and give them a different feature class and marker, there is no category within the HMS record itself, unless we pull it from the location feature class... Can we do that?
Of course, this may mean that we may need to be prepared change labeling from "hospital" to "medical facility" or "medical" (and HMS becomes relabeled as MMS). Be prepared.

I really think the best way to handle this is to change the name of the module to "medical" or "med" & the main controller to "facility"

That way the url would look like: http://haiti.s.org/prod/medical/facility

I think this is quite attractive and suit the needs. Each item that is currently labelled as a hosptial would just need to be given a facility_class.

This is not technically very difficult to implement, but there will be issues migrating from one system to another.

We leave it at "hms" for now, i.e. no renaming of the module to "medical", no renaming of the resource "hospital" into "facility".

An option to set a "facility type" in order to include other facilities than ordinary hospitals has been added, however, the focus of this module are indeed hospitals and similar (i.e. field hospitals, clinics, community health centers) - other medical facilities such as "pharmacy" or "practice" have actually different profiles and needs which are not covered by this module. A generalisation to "medical facilities" is not justifiable here, and the compromise of "hospital-like medical facilities" seems an inappropriately somehow: /prod/hospital_like_medical/facility

Agreed,

"facility" sounds good in terms of "health facility", however, "medical" seems
to me being the wrong term (as it suggests "treatment of patients" which is
not always the case).

The acronym "HMS" would still fit for "Health Facility Management System", so
no need to rename that.

These are the types of facilities to be targeted by the module:

Health center
Health center with beds
Health center without beds
Dispensary
Field Hospital
Hospital
Specialized Hospital
Other type of health facility
Unknown type of facility

The "facility type" field is already contained, so no change in the model
required (just need to update on field options - next update).

Facilities that do not provide any health services (like a helipad) should be
tracked separately as kind of "resources" associated to health facilities.
This can happen within the HMS module, but we need to finish the other parts
first.

So, will rename "hms_hospital" into "hms_facility" and change "Hospital"
into "Health Facility".

Though,

this means to change ~500 occurrences of the term "hospital" in the code in
various variants and combinations, some of which cannot be simply replaced
by "facility". And of course, all translations (if any exist) have to be
changed, too.

So standby patiently.

...and consider carefully before you change your mind regarding the name of a
resource next time - for this time it's ok, since we have plenty of time.
