Bug Description

If I deleted music files on my hard disc, the library isn't automatically updated (even with that option activated) and those entries are still there in the library. If I play those entries no change is made neither.
Before (in a previous version) the missed files were automatically deleted from the library when Rhythmbox started.

that requires a restart, its upstream bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=349920 ; linking that report, thanks.

Thanks, but even with a restart the files aren't removed and are still in the library.

This is very annoying. The only workaround for this is to select tracks and delete them. This has also worked (prior to the Banshee-era in 11.04 - 11.10) so this is a regression.

Workaround does not work any more: under 11.10, Rhythmbox no longer offers track deletion. It still offers "move to trash" which does not fix the issue.

Even worse: tagging does not work properly. I tried to tag FLAC files and ended up with a complete mess with ARIST and ARTISTSORT information wirtten wildly across an tracks. Is this somehow related to this bug, or might an new one be required?

Bug fixed in Rhythmbox 2.96 in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS: it properly notices missing files and "re-discovers" them after moving them back.
